Versailles is a vibrant and lively restaurant that offers a taste of Cuban culture and cuisine in the heart of Miami's Little Havana. From the moment you step inside, you'll be transported to a different world, with colorful decor, lively music, and a bustling atmosphere. The walls are adorned with posters and memorabilia celebrating Cuban history and culture, while the aroma of spices and cooking fills the air.
The menu at Versailles is a celebration of Cuban cuisine, with a wide variety of traditional dishes on offer. From classic staples like ropa vieja, lechon asado, and arroz con pollo, to lesser-known specialties like churrasco and vaca frita, there's something for every taste. And of course, no visit to Versailles would be complete without trying their famous Cuban coffee and flan, which are both delicious and authentic.
In addition to the food, Versailles is also a hub of activity for the Cuban-American community in Miami. It's a place where people come to socialize, catch up on the latest news and gossip, and discuss politics and current events. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, you're sure to feel the sense of community and camaraderie that permeates the restaurant.
Overall, Versailles is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in experiencing the vibrant culture and cuisine of Cuba. With its lively atmosphere, delicious food, and rich history, it's no wonder that it has become such an iconic institution in Miami.
(February 2020) A whole giant table of Cuban food and my favorite people 😊

Noshing on this guava pastelitos and sipping on this cortadito cubano was a real moment for me. For those of you who know me, I gave up coffee in 2015 because it would always make me break out. A super depressing realization. Anyway, its been so long now that I rarely give in to have it and have had maybe 5-6 sips of coffee in the past five years. But when I walked into versaillesmiami, the smell of the coffee just awoke something within me and I needed it. The cortadito with evaporated milk and sugar was to die for, and switching off sips with bites of the pastelitos was truly a foodgasmic experience. Also, their jamon croquettes are fire. This Cuban institution is a must-visit when you’re in Miami #whatKBeats

Just 20 minutes outside of Miami Beach....
...is Little Havana 🇨🇺
I truly felt like I was outside of the U.S. Every interaction began in Spanish. People lined the streets for coffee like you were in Latin America or Europe. If you`re missing international travel and need a taste....Little Havana is truly a mini visit to Cuba.
We enjoyed an incredible Cuban lunch at versaillesmiami
Saw authentic Cuban cigar demonstrations.
Enjoyed cafe con leche
And learned a lot.
I traveled to Miami with my Cuban roomate, Danielle. Going to Little Havana with a Spanish speaker makes all the difference.
Have you been to Little Havana?

Yesterday we lost an absolute G I A N T in Felipe Valls Sr
From early 60s Cuban Exile to beloved restauranteur, the man leaves behind a beautiful legacy and family
My guy Howard Cohen dropped a terrific piece on Valls Sr covering his remarkable life and career complete with commentary by everyone from Emilio Estefan to Carlos Frias
*Link in Stories*
Fun fact: Valls Sr is considered The Godfather of La Ventanita (en Miami)
OG brought the concept over with him from Cuba and first implemented it at El Oso Blanco en la saguesera
From there it became an absolute local phenomenon that lives today from Versailles and Mary`s Coin Laundry to even Poobli

May 2022 - The day Brandon officially became a doctor! One of the most rewarding parts of my life and our family’s lives has been watching Brandon become not just a doctor, but an empathetic and sensitive practitioner who truly wants to be in medicine for all the right reasons. He is the most patient and thorough person I’ve ever met, and his biggest critique he received throughout medical school was that he “spent too much time with patients” because when they were talkative, he would always listen. Sometimes when people are in the hospital, someone listening to them can change their entire day. Brandon is a bright spot for so many people who are in a tough place.
His journey wouldn’t be possible without the love and support of his incredible parents and family who sacrificed anything and everything they could to help him succeed. He was the first in his family to go to college, and he overcame many barriers with their selfless support. My parents have also been such an important part of his college and medical school years. We couldn’t have done it without them either. Something as major as a medical degree takes a community effort, and we are so grateful for everyone who has been there for Brandon over the years.
When we first started dating and I was in high school, he talked about where he wanted to go to medical school from our first date. This has been such a long road (and still not over - 4 more years of residency!), but I wouldn’t give it up for anything because I know the world needs him in this role. We need people like him, who are good listeners and empathetic humans to keep bringing the “care” part to the forefront of healthcare.

The Cortadito.
|
Twenty years ago we came to versaillesmiami and fell in love with this tiny but lovable coffee drink. We went home and it became our house drink for guests at our espresso bar.
|
When libertymarket opened in 2008 it became the signature drink of the E61 Bar, then Strada Bar, now the Social Counter. It definitely channels the intent and charm of the original and you get two, ideal for sharing… or not.

𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝟱𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗮𝘆 - 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 • 𝗠𝗜𝗔 | Fúfu con Masitas (de cerdo) 🇨🇺 When I landed in Miami six months ago, top on my list was finally going to the venerable versaillesmiami I know that many have strong opinions about where the best Cuban food is served in Dade County but as a person interested in the story of food, it seems only respectful to make that pilgrimage.
The Fúfu, smashed green plantain, as a component of this dish points to the culinary influence of West Africa that migrated with the slave trade. Cuban fúfu is more seasoned with garlic and firmer in texture than its West African originals that are intentionally “plainer” to be vehicle for stews. (Please flick back to my posts from February 20, 2021 and October 26, 2018). Also, only in Cuba did the dish keep its West African name whereas it is known as mofongo in the Dominican Republic.
Quite recently, I learned the word “masitas” aka chunks from studying menus and surmise that the default meat is pork. This pork is seasoned and crunchy, which is a nice foil to the softer fúfu texture. Pictured here is the appetizer portion.
As a language learner, I noticed the placement of the accent mark, which is different from many accented Spanish words where the stress is on the last symbol. Does this mean that FOO-foo is the intonation that came from Westerm Africa whereas I would pronounce it as foo-foo without any stress indication as written in English. If anyone knows, please leave in the comments below. Many thanks in advance.
Update: Betty’s comment below makes sense to me and consistent to what I learned through the years. I am guessing that I saw a typo.
